WHAT IS RHODAMINE WT?
First of all, the WT stands for “water tracing”, as that is this dye’s primary purpose. Rhodamine WT has the ability to stain organic materials from plants, silt and dirt. With a state of the art fluorometer, detection of the dye is 10 ppt (parts per trillion) in ideal conditions and at 0.1 ppb (parts per billion) in polluted waters. It can also be detectable by the naked eye at higher concentrations.
The suitability of Rhodamine WT for a specific water tracing study should be evaluated by customers in conjunction with a qualified hydrologist. A hydrologist can guide the testing and subsequent analysis of the data.
Please note that Rhodamine WT is also called Acid Red #338.
